CITY  (NewsDakota.com)–Two 2-0 teams will collide tonight in Wahpeton as the Hi-Liner football team starts Region I (eastern division) play.

The Hi-Liners face the Huskies in what, on paper, appears to be a matchup of two teams with designs on being physical and playing some smashmouth football.

Valley City is 2-0 after a dramatic win over Dickinson Trinity 14-12 last week.  Ben Sorenson hit Kyle Knutson for a 12-yard touchdown pass with 1:03 left for the gamewinner.

Wahpeton also ran it’s mark to 2-0 last week, coming from down 12-0 at the break to beat Breckenridge, MN 28-12.  The Huskies rushed for over 200 yards in the second half.

The eastern division has been exceptional in non-conference play, with over half of the league attaining 2-0 marks in non-league play.  Both Wahpeton and Lisbon have beaten west division favorite St. Marys, and the Hi-Liners took out another favorite in the west last week in Trinity.

In the latest AA poll, five teams from the east are ranked in the top six, with Shanley and Wahpeton the two teams, followed by Minot Ryan, then Valley City, Lisbon, and Grafton.

Gametime is at 7:00 p.m.  Pregame coverage begins at 6:05 p.m. on KOVC-AM 1490.
