Springs Dam, N.D. – Work has wrapped up on the Clausen Springs Dam emergency spillway west of Kathryn according to the contractor and a Mike Opat, a spokesman with the Moore engineering firm of West Fargo.

Barnes County Water Resource District Executive Secretary Jamie Smith says we are pleased to have this project completed and look forward to moving on with other water projects that need attention in the county.

B.C.W.R.D. board member Pat Hurley says the work was completed on Friday. He says it will bring a sigh of relief to the board and especially to the residents of Kathryn who live down stream of the dam.

During the 2009 flood the earthen emergency spillway began to erode under the pressure of high water in April. Members of the National Guard placed several one ton sandbags to help take pressure off the spillway that year.
