– One day before its football team plays for the state championship, the Linton-Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock volleyball team punched its ticket Thursday night to the Class B State Volleyball Tournament.

Linton-HMB knocked off Napoleon-Gackle-Streeter in the Region 3 championship Thursday in Wishek with a clean sweep, 25-18, 25-14, 25-10. Linton advances to the state tournament which starts Nov. 17 at the Fargodome.

In the Region 3 third-place match, Strasburg-Zeeland defeated South Border in five sets, 17-25, 25-18, 25-19, 13-25, 15-8.

Midkota takes Region 4

The Midkota volleyball team advanced to the state tournament with a sweep of Carrington on Thursday night, 25-23, 25-18, 25-17 during the Region 4 Tournament in Devils Lake.

In the third-place match, Langdon defeated North Star, 25-14, 25-17, 25-19.

Central Cass wins Region 1 thriller

The Central Cass Squirrels edged Kindred in the Region 1 title game Thursday, earning their spot in the state tournament.

The championship match in Fargo went the distance with Central Cass rallying from a 2-1 deficit to claim a 3-2 victory, 25-16, 20-25, 18-25, 25-15, 15-10.

Northern Cass defeated Wyndmere-Lidgerwood for third place, 23-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-15.
