The board had to approve the recommendation during a special meeting Friday before Superintendent Bob Toso could share information with the board about his investigation into the matter.

Richard Laqua, 54, is accused of inappropriately touching the girl and sending her sexually explicit text messages. Laqua is a construction technology teacher at James Valley Career and Technology Center. The district had previoulsly suspended him without pay.

The district’s attorney, Ken Dalsted, said Laqua would be entitled to a hearing before any decision to discharge him occurs.
