N.D. (AP) – North Dakota National Guard soldiers are
making their annual holiday visit to the state Veterans Home in
Lisbon. Volunteers from the Guard will bring gifts to the residents
today and join them for some food and singing.     
   
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – New Census data says nearly one-third
of North Dakota residents are considered poor or low-income,
despite an economy that’s performed better than much of the
country. Nationally, about half of the population is considered
poor or low-income.     
 
DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (AP) – The demand for law enforcement officers
in North Dakota is skyrocketing, thanks in large part to the oil
boom in the western part of the state. Meanwhile, retirements and
increased activity in population centers are adding to the need.
Some law enforcement agencies in western North Dakota have doubled
or tripled in size in the last three years.     
    
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – As the North Dakota State University football
team prepares to play for a national championship next month,
officials say that Bison clothing and other merchandise are
becoming hot items. Fargo stores are swamped with fans looking for
green-and-gold gear as NDSU prepares to face Sam Houston State in
the Football Championship Subdivision title game on January 7th in
Texas.
