(Jamestown College) – Jamestown College head football coach Shawn Frank announces Tony Smith of Jamestown has signed a Letter of Intent to enroll at Jamestown College next year and play football for the Jimmies.

The six-foot-one, 220-pound Smith recorded 59 rushing yards and 126 receiving yards during his senior season for the Blue Jays. Frank says he’ll play at tight end and be used in a variety of ways.

“Tony is a player who we identified early in the recruiting process,” Frank says. “Being a local player with ties to the Jamestown College community, he certainly is a natural fit. Tony is a good student who understands the balance between the academic and athletic responsibilities required at Jamestown College. We feel his ceiling is high athletically and he is a player who has the frame to fill out and add another 15-20 pounds. We are certainly excited that he has made Jamestown College his home and is now the sixth commit in the class of 2012. He comes from a family with strong values that embraces our vision and direction.”

Smith is the son of Jim and Karen Smith.
