B. Gibbon, 79, of Milnor, ND, passed away January 18, 2012, at Villa Maria Nursing Home, Fargo, ND.

 LaJune Barbara was born at home in Rosemeade Township near DeLamere, ND on March 3, 1932, to George and Dora (Schumacher) Gregor. She attended country school before going to St. Aloysius boarding school in Lisbon, ND, and then graduating from Wild Rice High School in 1950. LaJune worked at St. Francis Hospital, Breckenridge, MN and also Bell Telephone as an operator.

She was united in marriage to Kenneth Gibbon on June 17, 1953 at St. Arnold’s Catholic Church in Milnor. They made their home and farmed near Milnor, where they raised their seven children. LaJune and Kenneth retired from farming, raising cattle and running the feedlots in 1986. Kenneth passed away March 26, 2008. LaJune continued to live in Milnor until September of 2010, when she became a resident of the Villa Maria Nursing Home, Fargo.

LaJune was a member of St. Arnold’s Catholic Church, where she was active in St. Arnold’s Christian Mothers, and principal of the C.C.D. program. She was also a member of the Legion Auxiliary and PTA. LaJune enjoyed coffee with friends and family. She especially looked forward to her annual “Girls Day Out” with her daughters and daughers-in-law. LaJune loved roses, auction sales, antique glassware, gardening, canning, and collecting angels and nativity sets. Her favorite moments were spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

She is survived by their seven children, Karen (Dan) Williams, Alexandria, MN, Roger (Brenda) Gibbon and Deborah (Warren) Sundquist both of Milnor, Gayle (Lyle) Planteen, Prairie Rose, ND, Cynthia (Curt) Iwen, Enderlin, ND, Donna (Curtis) Stubstad, Sabin, MN, and Randy (Mary) Gibbon, Milnor; a brother, Eugene (Rosemarie) Gregor, Milnor; twenty-seven grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren. LaJune was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Kenneth.

 

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Arnold’s Catholic Church, Milnor, ND, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 to 6:45 p.m. with a rosary starting at 6:45 p.m. and prayer service to follow at 7:00 p.m. at St. Arnold’s Catholic Church.
