CITY (NewsDakota.com) Federal, state & local officials will hold a flood prep meeting in Valley City tonight at 6pm to help citizens learn more about the flood insurance and steps residents and businesses can take to reduce their flood risk this spring.

Federal Emergency Management Agency spokesman Jerry DeFelice said even though the flood outlook for Valley City is good so far this year people may still want to attend to see if flood insurance is right for them.

DeFelice said the second part of the meeting will focus on flood precautions people can take to help protect their property.

The meeting will be held tonight inside the Barnes County Courthouse starting at 6pm.

The meeting is open to the any North Dakota resident and will provide people with the opportunity to hear presentations and to speak with representatives from the State Water Commission, North Dakota Department of Emergency Services, and Federal Emergency Management Agency.
