VALLEY CITY  (NewsDakota.com)–Smoke and embers in a chimney led to a fire call in Valley City Tuesday afternoon.

The Valley City Fire Department responded to a call at 207 5th Avenue Northwest in Valley City just before 5:00 p.m. Tuesday.  Upon inspection, they discovered smoke in the chimney and embers and other debris from the chimney had hit the basement floor, causing some additional smoke.

An effort was made to use chains in the chimney to knock any additional debris from the interior to prevent fire from occuring.
