(NewsDakota.com)- The Jamestown Blue Jay hockey team hosted the Bismarck Century Patriots last night at Wilson Arena and provided the fans with some third-period excitement. It wouldn’t be enough as the Patriots, the WDA’s top-team, came away with a 5-3 win.

Trailing 2-0 after the first six minutes this game at the look of a blowout, but the Jays settled down and held the Patriots scoreless for over two complete periods.

Neither team scored in the second period, but six minutes into the third Nick Jensen struck for Jamestown. Brady Anderson got the assist and the Jays pulled within one, 2-1.

Jake Stilwell added the equalizer three minutes later. 

Century isn’t the the conference’s top-team for no reason, they came back with two goals in the span of 90 seconds to take a 4-2 advantage. Alec Rauhauser tallied his second tie-breaking goal of the night, the other came at 0-0.

Stilwell answered quickly for the Blue Jays, getting Jamestown within a goal with just under four minutes to play.

Rauhauser picked up his hat-trick with 40 seconds left to seal the win for the Patriots.

Century goaltender Devon Butz faced 24 shots and turned away 21 of them. Blue Jay goalie Tygh Yatskis knocked down 28 of 32.

Jamestown falls to 5-8-1 on the year, currently fifth in the WDA.

The Patriots remain the top-team with a  perfect 13-0 record.

Blue Jays will be back in action on Saturday evening against the Devils Lake Firebirds back at Wilson Arena. 7:30 drop of the puck, the game will be broadcast on 103.1 The Raven, 7:06 pregame.
