(NewsDakota.com) They still haven’t lost at home this season.

The Oakes High School girls basketball team earned yet another win at home, and more importantly, a victory against a fellow District 1 opponent on Friday night, as they took down Wyndmere/Lidgerwood 57-43 in the south gym of Oakes High.

The Tornadoes were up 17-5 after the first eight minutes, and never relinquished the lead thereafter. The Warbirds were able to have a couple of runs in the second half, but none was larger than a 4-0 run before the Tornadoes put down an easy bucket the other way. In fact, Oakes head coach Caitlyn Wojahn did not use a single time out during the game.

“I thought about calling a time out here or there in the second half to give the girls a bit of a break, but when you have a lead like that, you really don’t want to stop the game, you want to keep the game going.”said Wojahn. “Especially with the amount of momentum we had tonight, we just kept on going.”

The Tornadoes were lead by Nicole Warren who put down 18 points. Miranda Quandt added 10, and Karlie Knutson and Rebecca Greenmyer each had 9.

With the win, Oakes improves to 9-7 overall and an impressive 4-1 in District 1. Wyndmere/Lidgerwood falls to 5-9 and 2-3 in district play. Next up for the Tornadoes is a Saturday matinee against Litchville-Marion-Montpeiler in Oakes.
