(NewsDakota.com) The Jamestown High School basketball teams split with Turtle Mountain/Belcourt back in December, but this time around on Saturday night, it was the Blue Jays who were able to sweep the Bravettes and the Braves.

Girls: Jamestown 63 TMB 51

The girls had a solid first half, with 32 points to TMB’s 20. The Jays also limited the amount of turnovers they committed for the second straight game, only surrendering 10 for the entire contest.

“A win is a win, and we will take that every time. Even though it was ugly, we did a lot of good things tonight.” said Jamestown head coach Andy Skunberg. “Paige Peterson had a break out game for us, she was there finding rebounds and putting them back in, and that was a huge boost for us.”

Peterson had a double double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Kyra Dewald lead the Jays in scoring with 22 points, 16 of those in the first half.

Boys: Jamestown 89 TMB 66

The boys had a season high offensive output, and cruised to victory to end their three game losing skid.

“It’s always nice to win again.” said Jamestown head coach Kelly Kessler. “You don’t want to get used to losing, or anything like that. The kids came out from the start, played hard, overcame a bit of a foul situation on both ends, but it was a hard fought WDA game with a great crowd on hand tonight.”

Danny Fisher dropped 25 in the win for Jamestown, Nate Willer added another 21.

With the wins, the girls are now 5-6 in the WDA, and 6-8 overall, whereas the boys improve to 7-4 in conference play and sport a 9-5 overall record.

A two game road trip awaits Jamestown next week, as they play in Williston on Friday night, and in Dickinson on Saturday night.
