CITY  (NewsDakota.com)–The Hi-Liner girls put a scare into the first-place team in the Eastern Dakota Conference (EDC) in Valley City last night.

Grand Forks Red River gave up a 16-6 lead early, rallied to take a five-point edge at the break, with the teams exchanging one-point leads throughout a good chunk of the second half before the Rough Riders pulled away with a 67-55 win in Valley City last night.

The win moves Red River to 13-1 in EDC play, and possession of first place with their win over West Fargo earlier this year, who is also 13-1 in league play.

Valley City drops to 4-7 in EDC play, in a virtual tie with Wahpeton for sixth place in the league.  The Hi-Liners travel to Fargo North on Friday night for another game worth two points in EDC play.   The game will be heard on KOVC-AM 1490, with pregame coverage beginning at 7:30 p.m.
