(NewsDakota.com)- The Blue Jay basketball teams packed up Friday morning and headed west for stops in Williston and Dickinson.

Friday night the Jays visited Phil Jackson Fieldhouse in Williston and neither team got off the bus well. The girls lost fell 72-52 after digging themselves a hole they were unable to climb out of.

The Coyotes jumped on Jamestown out of the gate and took a 35-15 lead into half behind 11 points from senior Danielle Clark, she finished with 20. The Coyotes zone stifled the Jays offense holding them to the 15 first half points.

Kyra Dewald finished with 14 and Kayle Thoele added 12.

The Jamestown boys were looking to build off their win last Saturday against Turtle Mountain and fell behind early. They were able to close the gab in the second-half before Williston’s closed the game out at the free throw line for their first WDA win, 71-64.

Coyote Sophomore Jayden Ferguson torched the Blue Jays for 28 points and Alex Cundiff had a great night too with 23.

Danny Fischer had 23 for Jamestown, but he and Dyllan Anderson (18) were unable to complete the comeback. Fischer scored the first 10 of the second-half for Jamestown.

Saturday, the teams moved south to play the Dickinson Midgets.

The Jay girls opened the night with a 55-36 win. Midway through the second-half the Midgets pulled within 5 at 32-27, but Dewald sparked Jamestown on an 18-2 run to put away Dickinson.

Dewald and Thoele once again lead the Jays with 13 and 12 respectively. Jamestown went 1-1 on the weekend and took their record to 7-9 (6-7 WDA).

They boy struggled to find their rhythm again and Dickinson built a 23-point in the second-half. Once again, they were unable to come all the way back before losing 63-57.

Jamestown dug themselves out of that deep hole thanks to some bad decisions by the Midgets. On one occasion they even had the ball down by just two, but some costly turnovers and allowing Dickinson second chances cost them the game.

The losses drop the Jays to 9-7 (7-6 WDA) and they fell three spots in the West Region to No. 6.

The Jays will host Bismarck Century at Jerry Meyer Arena on Tuesday night. 5:45pm start.
