(NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown School Board gave approval Monday night to hire Gail Wold as Jamestown Middle School Principal for the 2012-13 school year.

Wold is currently a middle school principal in Beulah, N.D., and was one of three finalists for the open position. A search committee recommended her for the job last week, and the board approved the recommendation by a 7-0 vote Monday.

“I was part of that committee, and it was a difficult decision, but she is an excellent candidate and were are very, very lucky to have her,” board member Gail Martin said.

Superintendent Bob Toso said Wold has 20 years experience as a Middle School Principal.

The board also unanimously approved the hiring of Tim Fletcher as Head High School Football Coach for next season. Fletcher is a 1992 Jamestown High School graduate. Fletcher has been a science teacher and assistant football coach at the high school for 11 years.

The Jamestown School Board heard a final report from the Strategic Planning Committee at Monday night’s meeting, detailing the future direction the committee would like to see for Jamestown Public School activities.

The school board accepted the report and moved to form an implementation committee to look at starting to implement the recommendations of the Strategic Planning Committee.

Members of the Strategic Planning Committee say their ideas are a shift in thinking for the school district, using a vertical structure that will align elementary and middle school athletic programs with the high school programs.
