CITY  (NewsDakota.com)–After a 4-2 weekend in Sioux City, IA, the Viking softball team enters Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) play at Jamestown College today.

The Vikings had a solid performance at the Morningside Invitational in Sioux City last weekend, finishing 4-2, with a win over host-team Morningside 5-1.  Morningside has been in the national tournament with regularity.  Katie McBride(Sr., Grand Rapids, MN) continued a fantastic season with her fourth win in two days.  Jen Shadlock (Sr., Brandon, MB) drove in three runs on a bases-loaded double in the seventh to break open a 2-1 lead to the 5-1 finish.

McBride and Shadlock picked up DAC Pitcher and Player of the Week honors for their performances.  McBride threw 36 innings and surrendered only three earned runs, compiling a 0.58 ERA over that stretch.  Shadlock had 11 hits, three doubles, nine runs scored, drove in six runs, and stole four bases in five attempts.

The Vikings defeated the Jimmies 9-3 in the opening game of the year in St. Cloud, MN.  The Jimmies have won their last four games after a five-game losing streak, and are 13-12 overall.

Gametime today is at 3:00 p.m. in Jamestown.
