CITY  (NewsDakota.com)–The Viking baseball team is likely thinking they should have had two wins yesterday.

Valley City State did not give up an earned run in a 6-2 loss to Dickinson State to start a double-header in Valley City, then responded with an 11-2 clobbering of the Blue Hawks to break a three-game losing streak.

Ronnie Blagg (Jr., La Puente, CA) took a tough-luck loss in the opener, scattering 10 hits over six innings.  He allowed six runs, none of them earned as the Viking defense committed five errors, four in the first two innings that allowed a Blue Hawk 5-0 lead.

Preston Jensen (Jr., Valley City, ND) led the Vikings with three hits in four trips.  Brenden Shearer (Jr., Winnipeg, MB) was 2-3 with an RBI.

No time was wasted in game two, as the Vikings exploded for seven runs in the first two innings.  Josh Evans (Sr., Hayfield, MN), Casey Clark (Jr., Plant City, FL), and Dan Buehner (So., Blaine, MN) each had three-hit games, with Clark driving in three runs.

Ryan Shaw (Jr., Cardale, MB)) earned the win, working eight innings, allowing four hits and two runs, one earned, striking out four.

The Vikings are now 2-4 in Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) play, 9-18 overall.  They host the Blue Hawks again today.
