CITY  (NewsDakota.com)–The Viking softball team struggled for offense against Dickinson State Thursday, dropping contests of 4-0 and 2-0 to the Blue Hawks in Valley City.

Valley City State managed six hits in the opener, but could not string things together in the shutout loss.  Katie McBride (Sr., Grand Rapids, MN) took the loss, working seven innings, allowing eight hits and four runs, three earned.

McBride was then a tough-luck loser in the second game, not allowing an earned run in six innings of work.  Two Viking errors led to both Blue Hawk runs in the third inning, and four Viking hits could not undo the damage.

The Vikings are now 14-13 overall, 0-4 in Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) play.  They host Dickinson State again today.
