CITY  (NewsDakota.com)–The Viking baseball team worked their second split of the weekend with Dickinson State Friday, dropping a 1-0 start but winning a 12-8 nightcap.

Derek Zitzow (Jr., Valley City, ND) took a tough loss, allowing only two Blue Hawk hits and an unearned run in the opener.  The Vikings committed three errors.  Mike Gershman (Fr., Beausejour, MB) was 2-3 to lead the offense.

The Vikings responded by banging out 16 hits to win the second game.  Scott Stephenson (Jr., Ontario, CA) and Kyle Skinner (Sr., Seattle, WA) each had three hits, and Brendan Shearer (Jr., Winnipeg, MB) drove in four runs.

Taylor Nelson (Sr., Ramsey, MN) earned the win, working six innings while allowing four runs on eight hits.

The Vikings are now 10-19 overall, 3-5 in Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) play.  They travel to Northern State in Aberdeen, SD, Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
