CITY  (NewsDakota.com)–The Viking golf team had their Sunday at village Green in Moorhead cut short due to poor weather, golfing only nine of 36 scheduled holes.

The meet is being hosted by VCSU.  They will try for 27 holes today.

Valley City State landed a new prospect as well, with Leeds, ND golfer Darren Young signing a letter of intent.  Young holds a 77 average, has won four tournaments, and qualified for state three times since his freshman year.

“Darren is a great athlete and he has a determined work ethic,” said Nathan Stover, VCSU men’s golf coach.  “We expect him to come in and compete for us right away.  I like his swing and I like his temperament on the course.  I’m excited to see where his game progresses in the next couple years.”

The Vikings are expecting another local signee this week.
