Kramer, age 84, of Valley City, ND, died Sunday, April 22nd at Mercy Hospital in Valley City. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 25th at the Lerud Schuldt Funeral Home Chapel in Valley City. Visitation will be held on Wednesday one hour before the service at the chapel. Inurnment will be in Woodbine Cemetery, Valley City, ND.

Phyllis was born in rural Ransom County, to Peder Edward Berg and Dorothea Johanna Haarsager Berg, on September 18th, 1927. She attended rural elementary schools. Phyllis attended four years of high school at four different schools – Litchville, Hastings, Kathryn, and College High in Valley City. She was a business school alumnus of Valley City State University. Phyllis worked at the American National Bank, Barnes County Creamery, and Auction City Furniture, all in Valley City. She and her husband, Edmund Kramer, owned and operated the American Cafe, and catered the North Dakota Winter Show for several years during the 1970’s.

Phyllis was a creative and imaginative person; an avid reader, and lover of literature. She passed these loves on to her children and grandchildren. She will long be remembered.

Phyllis is survived by eight children: Gene (Linda) Kramer, Mora, MN; Kathy (Eugene) Maruska, Fargo, ND; LaRae (Cliff) Pearson, Novato, CA; Duane (Sharon) Kramer, Roundup, MT; Pat (Roger) Heit, Driscoll, ND; Nancy (Harold) Heit, Bismarck, ND; D’Arcy, Minneapolis, MN; Jeff (Hui) Kramer, Huntersville, NC. Brother Don (Donna) Berg, Rosemount, Mn. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edmund; companion and best friend, Loyd Jahr; infant daughter, Michelle; and Grandson, Sam Ternes
