CITY (NewsDakota.com) The search for a new Valley City Police Chief is over.   The hiring committee selected Captain Fred Thompson to be the next Chief of Police for the Valley City Police Department.   

Valley City Administrator David Schelkoph said, “Thompson is a 29 year veteran of the Henderson, Nevada Police department.  He has extensive management experience with a tremendous training background in law enforcement.  Thompson currently holds a B. A. in Public Administration-Law enforcement from Nevada State College and an Associates degree in Criminal Justice.”

Thompson is married to his wife Colleen, has 4 children, and 7 grandchildren.

Thompson officially starts his new position as police chief in Valley City the first week of June.

Schelkoph said, “we started with 39 applicants, whittled it down to 10 phone interviews, and finally brought in five applicants for “face to face” interviews.”
