(NewsDakota.com) – The tourism season in Jamestown unofficially kicks off this week.

The Frontier Village is holding its summer opening today, and on Saturday, Fort Seward and the Stutsman County Memorial Museum are holding their summer openings.

The first Wild West Shootout of the season is Saturday night at 7 p.m. at Frontier Village. It is free and open to the public.

Buffalo City Tourism Foundation executive director Nina Schneider says the nice spring weather has already jump-started the tourism season.

The Frontier Village is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fort Seward is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Stutsman County Memorial Museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The National Buffalo Museum is open year round but begins its summer hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. everyday starting Memorial Day.
