Wagar & Dutton To Step Down From City Commission This Month

City (NewsDakota.com) The final meeting for Valley City Commissioner’s Jon Wagar and George Dutton will be on June 18, they both decided not to seek re-election several weeks ago.

Mayor Bob Werkhoven says we didn’t always agree on every issue but it was a pleasure to serve with the two of them.

A reception for Wagar and Dutton will be held in city hall on June 18 from 3pm to 5pm just before their last meeting. Cake and coffee will be served and the public is welcome to attend the farewell reception in city hall.

The citywide election is next Tuesday, June 12 and two new city commissioners will be sworn in June 21 and will preside at their first meeting in July.

The candidates running for city commission are Bob Drake, Arthur Frieze, Mary Lee Nielson, Madeline Luke and Kenneth Evenson.

    I’m very sorry to see two experienced men leaving the commission, but can hardly blame them after all the abuse dished out to them. Thank you for your diligence under fire, both of you. We sorely need experienced leaders to replace them. Of the list of candidates, there are only two. Please give them your support.
