CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) A fiber optic line was cut twice in two different places in Barnes County knocking out service to Century Link and other phone company customers.

Barnes County 9-1-1 coordinator Andrea Suhr says the most recent line cut did knock out 9-1-1 service in Barnes County and calls had to be transferred to state radio.

According a Century Link spokeswoman Carrie Amann says a contractor cut the line west of Valley City under a lake and a farmer mowing grass cut the line above ground just west of Valley City on Saturday.

Amann says the cut line knocked out service in the Jamestown and Valley City area on Saturday for about 5 hours. On June 14 service was restored 8 hours later being the line was cut below a lake west of Valley City.
