of the “Greatest Generation” warriors has passed away.  Robert Lybeck died January 25th in Placentia, CA.  He was born in Valley City, ND in 1924 to Hilma and Gus Lybeck.  He graduated VCHS class of 1942.  Bob was a bombardier on a NAVY B24 in WW 2 while stationed in the South Pacific on Saipan and Tinian for 2 years.  After 4 years service he joined the telephone company in ND then moved to California and joined the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railroad as a division lineman for 30 years.  He leaves his brother Gordon (Gus) Lybeck and many close family relatives.  A graveside service will be conducted at Woodbine Cemetery AT 2:30 P.M. July 5, 2012 in Valley City with Rev. Jolene Knudson Hanse officiating.  Lerud-Schuldt Funeral Home.
