funeral service for Winnifred Borg, 94, Valley City, ND, will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 2, 2012 at Grace Free Lutheran Church, Valley City.  Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, rural Valley City.  She died June 28, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Valley City.         

Family and friends will gather on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel and will continue an hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.        

Winnie Alice Boughten was born in Sanborn on July 17, 1917 to Harold and Hattie Boughten.  She married Lester Borg on September 30, 1935 in Sanborn and they farmed in Green Township for many years.  Winnie worked at Woody’s Cafe, Hilltop, Mercy Hospital and later babysat for several local families.  Winnie enjoyed playing card games, dancing, fishing, feeding birds, and flowers.  Her family fondly remembers her excellent cooking.  Lester passed away on August 22, 1993 and Winnie moved into the Rudolph Square apartments where she made her home until moving to the Sheyenne Care Center in August of 2010.       

Winnie is survived by her children – Barbara (Lowell) Komrosky, Valley City; Ken (Jerry) Borg, Valley City; Peggy (Sonny) Johnson, Montpelier; Ray (Lil) Borg, Valley City; Richard (Barbara) Borg, Valley City; and Bonnie Kitzman, Watertown, SD; 20 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren and 23 great great grandchildren.  She is also survived by brothers: Dick (Babe) Boughten, Rose Creek, MN; Lowell (Grace) Boughten, Coeur d’Alene, ID; and Jerry (Clara) Boughten, St. Paul, MN; and sisters: Bonnie (Bernie) Didier, Sanborn; Betty Natvig, Blackduck, MN; and Irene Didier, Loon Lake, WA.  Winnie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three grandsons, one great grandson, one great great granddaughter and three sisters.         

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City.
