(NewsDakota.com) – Otter Tail Power Company says a lightning strike caused a power outage in the community of Eckelson on Friday.

Otter Tail Spokesperson Stephanie Hoff says a lightning strike on a power pole knocked out power about 5:30 a.m. Friday morning. Power was restored temporarily, but high winds caused the fire to start again, knocking power out again at about 9:45 a.m.

Crews working in the Eckelson area were able to restore power just before 1 p.m., ending about a three-hour outage.

The outage affected the Ingstad Family Media radio tower in Eckelson, temporarily knocking Big Dog County 95.5, 103.1 The Raven and Q101.1 off the airwaves.
