(NewsDakota.com) The up and down ride that has been the 2012 Oakes Post 36 American Legion baseball season will come to a swift end at the beginning of next week.

Oakes coach Lucas Patzlaff informed NewsDakota.com Monday that due to scheduling conflicts with the Section 2 Legion Tournament and the Babe Ruth tournament; the Legion team will not have enough players to participate in the tournament because of the Babe Ruth members of the team in competition. Therefore, the Legion team is withdrawing from any play in the postseason.

Post 36 was scheduled to play two games against Lidgerwood this week; those games have now been canceled. The last game of the year for Oakes is Monday July 16 against Section 2 opponent LaMoure Post 19.

This will leave the Section 2 tournament in Wishek later this month with six teams: LaMoure, Enderlin, Wishek, Carrington, Lisbon and Ellendale.
