CITY  (NewsDakota.com)–The Valley City State University Viking baseball team will get a healthy dose of “Spoiler”, signing three Grafton baseball standouts for the upcoming season.

Thomas Houdek, Kevin Tibert, and Joey Demers have all signed letters of intent to play at VCSU, according to Viking head baseball coach Casey Olney.

Houdek and Demers were both members of the Grafton Spoiler baseball team that finished runner-up in the state tournament this past season.  Houdek hit .366 with 27 RBI in 27 games during the high school run.  He is on pace to become Grafton Post 41’s all-time RBI leader this summer.  He was a first-team all-regional selection this season.

Demers hit .492 with a .629 on-base percentage (OBP) during the high school season, launching three home runs and drawing 28 walks.  On the mound, he was 6-1 with a 1.17 ERA and 40 strikeouts, holding opponents to a .184 batting average.  He is a three-time all-region selection and a two-time all-state selection.

Tibert is currently 5-0 with a 3.15 ERA with the Post 41 Legion team in Grafton.  He is also hitting .351 and leads the team with 16 stolen bases.
