(NewsDakota.com)- The early Minor League career of former Jimmie Alex Kreis took a bit of a detour this spring when he was diagnosed with pneumonia. After surgery and recovery with some of the best doctors that the Washington Nationals could provide he was sent on a rehab to stint to Viera, Florida.

Kreis was pitching for the Hagerstown Suns in Maryland when he was sent to the DL. He had appeared in 8 games with an ERA of 5.84.

Kreis had a 21-5 career record with the Jimmies winning two DAC Pitcher of the Year awards before he was selected in the 35th round by Nationals.

He joined Steve Linzmeier on KQDJ’s AM Update this morning to talk about the road back and minor league life. You can listen to that interview in full below.
