Jacob was born on the family farm near Napoleon, ND on August 29, 1923 the daughter of Valentine and Veronica (Haegly) Jacob.  She was raised on the farm and attended country school near Napoleon.  Elizabeth married Peter Schmidt at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon, ND on January 20, 1947.  They farmed at Braddock, Jud and Edgeley, ND before moving into Edgeley in 1954 where Peter was employed at the LP Plant.  Elizabeth worked at the Coffee Shop and Manor St. Joseph in Edgeley for many years.

Elizabeth was a member of Transfiguration Catholic Church, Edgeley, ND.  She was a Lifetime member of the Transfiguration Altar Society.  Elizabeth enjoyed cooking, quilting, gardening, and fishing with her husband.

Survivors include her husband; 4 sons, Philip (Melanie), Atlanta, GA, Lawrence (Valerie), Roger, Arkansas, Anthony (Debbie), Portland, OR; 2 daughters, Mary Jane Raguse, Bismarck, ND and Vonda (Stewart) Lane, Denver, CO; 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Agatha Brown and Katie Bachman, both Milwaukee, WI, Veronica (Pius) Schmidt, Napoleon, ND and Lugard Leier, Braddock, ND. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sons; 1 brother; and 3 sisters. 

Eucharist of Christian Burial: 10:30 am, Thursday, July 27, 2012 at Transfiguration Catholic Church, Edgeley.

Visitation: 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm, Wednesday, July 26, 2012 at Transfiguration Catholic Church, Edgeley.

Prayer Service: 7:30 pm, Wednesday, July 26, 2012 at Transfiguration Catholic Church, Edgeley.

Interment: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Edgeley.
