JAMESTOWN (NewsDakota.com) – The Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office has released more details about a motorcycle crash that killed a Valley City man Monday afternoon.
37-year-old Jackson Schnaidt of Valley City was killed when his 2008 Yamaha motorcycle collided with a pickup about two miles north of Spiritwood Lake.
According to the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office, Schnaidt was southbound on Highway 62 when his motorcycle crossed over the center line near the crest of a hill, and collided with the left side of a northbound pickup driven by 63-year-old Alvin Alderman of Wimbledon.
Schnaidt was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Sheriff’s office says alcohol was a factor in the crash.
Alderman was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. He was cited for driving under suspension. The Sheriff’s office says Alderman had consumed alcohol prior to the crash, but was under the legal limit.
The accident remains under investigation. The North Dakota Highway Patrol is assisting with reconstruction of the accident.
The funeral for Schnaidt is 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Valley City. His obituary can be read here.
