(NewsDakota.com) The 2012 season of Oakes High School football kicks off on Friday evening, as the Tornadoes host Britton/Hecla South Dakota at Cummings Field.

Greg Dobitz is back for his second year as the head coach of Tornado Football, and will try to improve on a season which saw his club go 8-2 and fall short in the state quarterfinals to Maple Valley/Enderlin.

The main key to success of the 2012 squad will be the need for quick growth on the offensive and defensive lines says Dobitz.

In this year’s Pigskin Preview magazine, the magazine has Oakes to win Class A Region I, and the coaches in the Region have picked Oakes to finish second. Dobitz says the picks by the coaches in the region hold a greater significance to him than the picks made by the magazine.

To listen to the full interview with Coach Dobitz, listen to The Metko Sports Show’s Coaches Carrousel this Friday August 24th during the 9 a.m. hour on KDDR-AM 1220/FM 95.9 and NewsDakota.com.

KDDR will have live coverage of all Tornado games throughout the season with pregame times at 6:40 and kickoffs around 7 p.m.
