DEVILSLAKE (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Blue Jay football team didn’t even complete a quarter in their season opener Friday night before Mother Nature spoiled the party.
The Blue Jays had their season opener suspended about midway through the first quarter due to rain and lightning in Devils Lake. The Blue Jays and Firebirds will resume their game at 3 p.m. Saturday. You can hear it on Dakota Country KQDJ 1400-AM and 97.1 FM.
The Blue Jays looked sharp before the lightning came, driving down the field and scoring with 6:40 left in the first quarter to take an early 7-0 lead on a 19-yard touchdown pass from Matt Grounds to CJ Soulis. Shortly after Jamestown completed the extra point, the game was suspended due to lightning.
