(NewsDakota.com)- The 2012 VCSU Invite at Maple River Golf Course finished up yesterday with the Jamestown College Jimmie men’s and women’s teams taking the team title. They also had the men’s medalist while Valley City St. had the women’s medalist.

Tommy Rockis shot a final round 73 to take home the honor on the men’s side with a score of 145. He was 12 shots ahead of the second place finishers; Rockis’ teammates Jack Bietz and Kameron Hunter tied for second with a 157.

Ashley Hinirchs was the women’s champ. Hinrichs paced the field after day one with an 84, she came back to shoot an 88 to take down the women’s field by nine strokes.

Jamestown College won both the men’s and women’s team events. The men finished with a 617 (308 and 309), 44 shots ahead of second place Valley City.

The Jimmie women took 43 more strokes on Monday then they did Sunday and it allowed Dickinson St. to close the gap, but Jamestown College still won handily by 17 strokes with a 773.

The Jimmies and Vikigns are on the road Friday in Morris, MN for the Cougar Invitational. It will be played at Pomme De Terre Golf Course.
