Oakes Hall Of Fame Inducts Dick Miller Monday

(NewsDakota.com) The first night of homecoming week for Oakes High School will start with the newest member of the Oakes Hall Of Fame being officially inducted.

Dick Miller will become the 13th member to join the prestigious group, and will be inducted during Coronation on Monday September 24th at 7 p.m. in the south gymnasium of Oakes High School.

Miller was a social studies teacher at Oakes High School from 1965 to 1995; a coach from 1965 to 1989, and athletic director from 1977 to 1989. In the world of coaching basketball, he guided Oakes to 12 Southeast Conference Championships, 10 District Championships and three Regional Championships. He finished his career with 448 wins.

Miller was the Class B Athletic Director in 1987, inducted into Dickinson State University’s Athletic Hall Of Fame in 2001, and the North Dakota Coach’s Hall of Fame in 2004.

Stuart Munsch, Phil Hansen, Edyth Skarp, Mike Podolak, George Rempfer, Don Peitz, Gerald Ringdahl, Mable Bailey, Tim Nichols, Stan Hokana, Doris Hankel and Nate Cummings are the other members of the Oakes Hall Of Fame.
