(NewsDakota.com) – The City of Jamestown has selected a preferred site for a new water tower in south Jamestown.

The Public Works Committee on Tuesday selected a site just west of Infinity Building Services in the I-94 Business Park. It was chosen over two other sites. The city must now present a purchase offer to the Jamestown-Stutsman Development Corporation, which owns the land in the Business Park.

Construction plans for the 750,000 gallon water tower are still being finalized. The project could be completed by late 2013. It would serve all of south Jamestown on the hill, said Travis Dillman with Interstate Engineering.

The new water tower would presumably allow for more expansion and growth in south Jamestown, which has need of more water. One motel opened earlier this year in south Jamestown, and another is currently being constructed.
