(NewsDakota.com) – The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for Wednesday across most of North Dakota.

A Red Flag Warning means critical fire weather conditions are occurring. The warning is in effect from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burning is not currently allowed when a Red Flag Warning is in effect. The Warning is in effect for all of North Dakota except the very Northeastern part of the state.

According to the National Weather Service, “dry prairie grasslands combine with gusty winds and low relative humidities to create Red Flag conditions.” The weather service says it could be one of the most criticial fire danger days so far this year.

Winds are expected to be from the northwest around 30 miles per hours, and could gust up to 45 miles per hour. Temperatures are expected to be in the mid 60s.
