Irene Olson was born on July 9, 1929 at Jamestown. She was the daughter of Ole and Selma Olson and grew up on the family farm near Windsor, ND.   Delores attended Deer Lake Schools in rural Stutsman County and graduated from high school in Jamestown, ND.  She attended Teachers College in Valley City, ND and taught in area one-room school houses.  She married Myles (Mike) Boyle on June 19, 1952. She and Mike lived with their three children and farmed west of Buchanan until Mike’s death in 1986. Delores continued to be a valuable member of her son David’s family farming operation until she moved to Jamestown in 2000. In addition to her farm duties she was a devoted volunteer for the Jamestown Hospital Auxiliary. Her many years of service were recognized in 2010 when she received a national volunteer service award from the VFW Auxiliary, an accomplishment of which she and her family were extremely proud. Delores was also a member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church and Altar Society, VFW Auxiliary, and Sons of Norway. Delores was devoted to her family and loved spending time with friends. 

Delores is survived by her daughter-in-law, Betsy, Fargo; grandsons, Patrick (Anna), West Fargo; Peter (Abbie), Fargo; great-grandsons, Myles and Henry, West Fargo; sister, Maurinda (Ronald) Rosemore, Jamestown; brother, Darald (Ellen) Olson, Buchanan; brother-in-law, Donald (Marie) Boyle, Jamestown; and nieces and nephews.

Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Mike; sons, David and Tim; daughter, Karen, her parents; and sister, Agnes.


Eucharist of Christian Burial –
10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 4, 2012 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown.

Visitation – None scheduled. 
Interment – St. Mary’s Cemetery, Buchanan, North Dakota.
