N.D. (NewsDakota.com) A student at a school in Fairmount shot himself in front of other students Thursday morning. It happened around 8:30am. Richland County Sheriff Larry Leshovsky was on the scene.

KFGO’S Gary Rogers says the school was placed in temporary lockdown. Students in the K-12 school were released for the day. Principal Jay Townsend says the boy was coherent when he was taken from the scene by ambulance. Counselors have been made available. The school has about 110 students.
