(NewsDakota.com) The 2012 District 1 Volleyball Tournament will come to an end Monday evening in Oakes, and the host team will have a say as to who will be crowned the champion of the District.

On Friday night, Oakes swept Minor three games to none by scores of 25-20, 27-25 and 25-20 to advance to the title round, and lock up a spot in the Region I volleyball tournament, to be played in Oakes November 5, 6 and 8. 

The Tornadoes opponent will be the North Sargent Bobcats, as they took down Lisbon in four games by scores of 25-16, 24-26, 25-22 and 25-20.

In loser out play on Friday, Hankinson and Wyndmere/Lidgerwood kept their seasons alive with 3-0 and 3-2 wins over F-C-T and Sargent Central respectively.

Monday’s starts with Regional Qualifier play at 4:30 between Lisbon and Hankinson, followed by Minor and Wyndmere/Lidgerwood. The Championship game between the #1 seed Tornadoes and #2 seed Bobcats is scheduled for 7:30. Coverage on KDDR 1220 AM/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com starts around 7:15.
