Governor Proclaims This Week ‘Severe Winter Weather Awareness Week’

BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Governor Jack Dalrymple has officially proclaimed Oct. 29 through Nov. 2 to be Severe Winter Weather Awareness Week for North Dakota.

In the proclamation, the governor states that “North Dakota is vulnerable to various types of severe winter weather, including extremely cold temperatures, dangerous wind chills, ice storms, snowstorms and freezing rain.”

The awareness week is a joint effort through the North Dakota Department of Emergency Services along with the National Weather Service as well as state and local agencies such as the North Dakota Highway Patrol, North Dakota Department of Transportation and North Dakota Fire Marshall’s Office.
