Oakes Takes District 1 Volleyball Title

OAKES (NewsDakota.com) The number one high school volleyball team team during the regular season in Class B District 1 was crowned District Champion Monday night on their home floor.

The Oakes Tornadoes took down the North Sargent Bobcats in a three games to none sweep, by scores of 25-13, 2521 and 25-21 to secure the Championship. Both the Tornadoes and Bobcats already punched their tickets to the Region I Tournament by way of reaching the Championship match.

Oakes Coach Kathy Warren earned District 1 Coach Of The Year honors, and Nicole Warren was named District 1 Senior Athlete Of The Year. 

In the two Regional Qualifier contests, Hankinson pulled an upset defeating Lisbon in five games (17-25, 26-24, 17-25, 25-21, 15-12), and Milnor took down Wyndmere/Lidgerwood also in five games (19-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-13, 15-7.)

Hankinson, Milnor, North Sargent and Oakes will represent District 1 teams in the Class B Region I Volleyball Tournament which starts next week in Oakes.
