N.D. (AP) – Republican Rep. Rick Berg has officially conceded the North Dakota U.S. Senate race to Democratic candidate Heidi Heitkamp.

With all North Dakota precincts reporting, Heitkamp was victorious with 50.25 percent of the vote, as opposed to Berg’s 49.31 percent. It was a margin of just shy of 3,000 total votes.

Berg’s spokesman Chris Van Guilder originally said in a statement early this morning that Berg would not concede until the process played out in terms of waiting until the votes are canvassed.

The canvassing process is expected to begin Friday.
