(JC Sports Information)- Jamestown College head women’s basketball coach Greg Ulland announced that Arei Stokes of Hewitt, Minn., signed a Letter of Intent to enroll at Jamestown College and play for the Jimmies beginning in 2013.

Stokes, a five-foot-eleven forward, is an All-State honorable mention and four-year All-Conference selection for Bertha-Hewitt. She recorded 557 points and 334 rebounds her junior season.

“We are so excited that Arei has decided to join the Jimmie family!,” Ulland said. “She possesses a great skill set, is very athletic, and can cause a lot of matchup problems. Her versatility is what we like, and she is a proven scorer with a wide variety of moves. As we got to know Arei, she is definitely going to be a great fit here at JC; she is someone who has a contagious personality that is just fun to be around, and probably the thing I liked most is how competitive she is. That was a trait that we saw in her right away and loved. We want players who want to get after it and compete and never settle.”

“I chose Jamestown College because I felt very comfortable when I came for my visits,” Stokes said. “I loved the coaches and how they made me feel a part of the team right away. I also like the location – the atmosphere for athletes there is amazing.”

Stokes is also an All-Conference selection in volleyball and is active in FCCLA and marching band. She plans to major in exercise science at Jamestown College. She is the daughter of Michael and Sheila Stokes.
