CITY – Valley City State University softball coach Chad Slyter has announced the signing of Olivia Damge, a catcher/corner infielder from Poudre High School in Fort Collins, CO.

Damge is a four year letter winner at Poudre High School, a member of the 5A league in Colorado High School athletics, and has been the starting varsity catcher as a junior and senior. A career .350 hitter, Damge helped lead her team to a regional tournament berth in both 2011 and 2012 as well as a State tournament appearance in 2011. In her senior year she received multiple Player of the Game awards.

For her accomplishments on the high school field Damge has been a two time All-Conference selection as well as being named a 2012 Varsity Team Captain.  As a member of the Colorado Cardinals club team, Damge was selected for the 2011 USSSA All Star team and helped the Cardinals place second in both the ASA State Tournament and the Triple Crown State Tournament.  The Cardinals were also a National Tournament Qualifier in 2012.

As successful as Damge is on the field she has been just as impressive in the classroom. While taking courses in the International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement programs, Damge has carried a grade point average of over 3.5 and was awarded the Colorado Women’s Sports Fund Association (CWSFA) scholarship. The CWSFA awards scholarships to help support women’s participation in sports across the state of Colorado.  Damge has also been a two time Academic All-State Honorable Mention recipient.

“Coach Fracker had the chance to work with Olivia in a recruiting showcase last summer in Colorado and it was clear that she was the kind of student athlete that we want in a Viking uniform,” said Slyter. “Olivia has an engaging personality, loves the game of softball and will work hard to become an even better player at the college level. I’m thankful for Coach Fracker for her recruiting efforts and excited to see Olivia in a Viking uniform in the fall of 2013.”
