N.D. (Prairie Public News) – North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem says a Mandan business that has head shops in several other cities such as Jamestown and Fargo has been selling synthetic drugs as “bath salts” and can no longer sell those substances.

Coinciding with that, Stenehjem issued a “cease and desist” order against Big Willies and its owners. Stenehjem says the substances have labels on them that say “not for human consumption,” but he says they are marketed as alternatives to street drugs.

Later today, Stenehjem will ask the state Board of Pharmacy for an emergency rule to classify those synthetic drugs as “Class A” substances, which would make selling them a class A felony.
